Our Story

From overwhelmed to intentional.

Most people assume that if they eat ‘right’, exercise, and follow conventional advice, health will follow. For most of my life, I did just that: eating what I was told was healthy, exercising regularly, and trusting conventional institutions to lead the way.

Despite my sincere effort to prioritize my health amid the overwhelm of modern responsibilities, I still struggled with asthma, dry skin through psoriasis, low energy, and mental fog.

I tried everything, jumping from diet to diet, workout to workout, vitamins to supplements, and stumbling across energy ‘hacks’ like cold-plunging; some of them worked, but couldn’t fit seamlessly into my daily routine. My last stone unturned was my environment.

There I found the shocking side effects of seemingly innocent ingredients found in nearly every modern health and beauty product on the shelf.

That was my turning point.

Do you feel you’re doing everything right physically and nutritionally but still feeling ‘off’? The cause may not be what you expect: toxic ingredients like parabens and phthalates used in everything from shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, shaving creams, makeup, foundation, sunscreens, toothpastes, perfumes, body sprays, nail polish, hair sprays, candles..and more. These widely used chemicals have so far been linked to:

  • asthma
  • heart disease
  • cancer
  • diabetes
  • hormone disruption
  • reduced fertility
  • shortened childhood development

I immediately set out to research the best alternatives available, trying every natural this and that, leaving a bit unsatisfied. Even the best natural products didn’t give me the results I needed. I was left with unscented castile soap, the same toxic deodorant, and no sunscreen or moisturizer to speak of.

Digging deeper, I looked up natural home remedies and recipes. There I encountered consistently mixed results; the same recipe and poor instructions passed around for views. However, what I didn’t discover in full recipes I did discover in ingredients. Ingredients like pure animal and plant fats, different forms of magnesium, raw honey & yellow beeswax, and botanical oils did just as much for my body as anything I tried before.

I began experimenting, researching evidence to back my results, and testing countless variations. After extensive trial and error I had perfected a tallow and honey balm that replaced every moisturizer I had ever used, and a magnesium deodorant that actually worked better than synthetic without masking odor under harsh cologne.

Within weeks, my years-long health struggles began to ease. My asthma attacks nearly disappeared. My psoriasis became far less persistent. My energy returned. For the first time in years, I felt healthy again. My health was finally on the up and I was content to wrap this chapter up.

Not long after, my family and I all expressed interest in having farmland, having more control of our food, and being more self-sufficient in our living. Already having a few acres of land, the next summer they had multiple wild-caught bee colonies, goats, and were renovating the infrastructure necessary for expanding the livestock capacity of the old barn passed down to them.

This is where Reliefscape began.

Inspired by that deeper connection to the ingredients I’ve already grown to value and use every day, what started in my kitchen became handcrafted products made in small batches, with ingredients you can trust and roots that go back to your neighbors pasture last summer.

While we don’t rely on funded studies to use our eyes and ears, we do provide research-backed evidence when available that supports what we already know. It’s amazing how many folk remedies are slowly being ‘confirmed’ with modern research methods.
